Gaudet’s "Myth of Romance" exhibition will feature two
“books” in glass each comprised of 29 pages individually
cast and embellished with iconography that explore the universal "myths"
of romance. The two books, one cast in pink glass and the other in blue,
represent the lighter and darker sides of romance respectively. Gaudet
will also exhibit an installation of daggers cast in glass with phrases
embossed on the blades that relate to the objects on the handles.
Mitchell
Gaudet received his MFA from Tulane University in 1990. He has taught
at the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and the Urban School of Glass
in Brooklyn. For the past ten years he has been associated with the
distinguished Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. In 2004 Gaudet served
as a co-chair for the Glass Arts Society Convention. He currently owns
and operates Studio Inferno which functions as studio space for numerous
glass artists in the city. His work has been included in several prestigious
collections and he has achieved national recognition as one of the premiere
artists in the field.
